Davies Precision Grinding was established in 1982 by Adrian Davies. The company started by offering a bespoke universal grinding service throughout Birmingham and the West Midlands.
The company soon grew at a fast pace and needed a bigger premises, followed by another move in 1997 to the current location near the city centre.
After the closure of local company Triskill chrome plating, Davies Precision Grinding started their own in-house hard chrome plating which had started with one small chrome tank to now having 5 hard chrome plating tanks and offering more capacity.
Next, was the takeover of Charlie Styles Grinding, increasing the capacity to 2500mm long shafts with up to 600mm O/D. During this time, many additional grinding machines were added to the universal grinding services, including CNC grinding and bigger surface grinding machines. Cutting down turnaround times and maintaining a high accuracy.
The takeover of GP Engineering, complimented the hard chrome plating side of the business by adding metal spraying to the repair services. A temperature-controlled inspection room soon followed. The universal grinding work force has a vast wealth of experience, and they pride themselves on a quick turnaround, low costs and accurate universal grinding.
In 2014, Andrew Sweetman, a long-term member of the team became a director. And went on to buy the company alongside his wife Andrea Sweetman in 2019. With their drive, enthusiasm and customer relations, are continuing to maintain and improve their ever-expanding business.
